How an AI agent builder is different from an AI website builder
Most tools marketed as "AI website builders", like Wix ADI, Framer AI, or Hostinger's AI builder, generate a draft. You type a description, the tool produces a templated page, and then you open the editor and do the real assembly yourself: swap the copy, fix the layout, connect the buttons, set up payments.
An AI agent works one level deeper. Instead of handing you a starting point, it uses the builder for you. When we asked Mavi to build a coffee shop site, it created the pages, added the menu section, and then noticed the navigation buttons were broken because the page anchors did not exist yet. Four things we asked Mavi to build
We gave Mavi four plain-language prompts, one per task, with no follow-up instructions. Here is what each one produced.
A booking funnel with a $10 prepayment
Prompt: "Build a booking funnel for a barbershop haircut, with a $10 prepayment to hold the slot."
Mavi started by showing a plan and waiting for confirmation. Once we pressed Run, it worked through the build step by step, creating the bot block, linking the scenario steps, and checking the result, with each step ticked off in the chat as it went.
What it built was a multi-step flow, not a single message: a welcome screen, a "book a haircut" trigger, a step that collects the client's preferred time, a step that collects their name, and a phone number field with input validation so a mistyped number gets caught. After that came the payment step for the $10 hold, an "I've paid" confirmation branch that ends with "your slot is confirmed", and a separate "cancel" branch with its own closing message.
A website for a coffee shop
Prompt: "Build a website for a coffee shop called 'Aroma' with a menu (latte, cappuccino, desserts) and a map showing the address."
Mavi created a multipage site called "Aroma Coffee Shop". Partway through, it explained that the hero buttons were pointing at sections that didn't have anchors yet, so it added a "menu" anchor to the products section and a "map" anchor to the contacts section, then retried the links. The finished page has a dark hero with the line "Aroma, fresh coffee every day", a short intro, and "Order now" and "See the menu" buttons, followed by an "Our menu" section with product cards: a photo, a description, a price, and an order button for each item.
An online store for handmade candles
Prompt: "Build an online store for handmade candles: a lavender scented candle, a candle in a glass jar, and a set of 3 candles."
Mavi started a new store, separate from the coffee shop, and told us it would report back with a link once it was live. It took the three products we named and expanded them into a fuller catalog: four categories (Signature Candles, Lavender Collection, Glass Jar Candles, Gift Sets) and six products, each with a name, a short description, a price between $18 and $39, a photo, an add-to-cart button, and a favorites heart. The three we asked for are all there, plus three plausible extras to make the storefront look stocked rather than empty.
An online course on photography
Prompt: "Build an online course called 'Photography basics for beginners' with 3 modules and paid access."
Mavi created a paid plan for the course, then built out the structure: three modules, six lessons, and a homework task on every lesson. The modules follow a sensible beginner sequence, Camera Fundamentals, Composition & Light, Shooting & Editing, and the lesson titles are specific rather than generic ("How Your Camera Works", "The Exposure Triangle", "Shooting in Manual Mode"). Mavibot's own course checklist showed 100 percent complete: at least one module, at least three lessons, and homework on at least one lesson.
What Mavi got right, and where you still need to step in
Across all four tasks, Mavi did the assembly. It created the actual blocks, wrote usable copy, set prices, linked the funnel branches, and turned a one-line request into something you could show a customer.
It also makes decisions you'll want to review. It tends to expand scope: the candle store request named three products, and Mavi built six across four categories. That beats an empty shop, but you may want to trim it or swap in your real inventory. The specifics are placeholders too. A $4.50 latte and a $24 candle are reasonable defaults, not your prices, and the same goes for lesson lengths and descriptions, so plan on going through and setting the real numbers. Because Mavi works through the platform's own functions, you'll sometimes catch a generic label like "new lesson" in the change log for a moment before it gets renamed.
You are also never fully hands-off, and that is deliberate. Mavi shows a plan and waits for you to press Run on anything irreversible. It self-corrects when it catches its own mistake, like the broken coffee shop buttons, but you should still open the finished result and click through it. What you get is the tedious 80 percent done for you, the skeleton built, the logic wired, the first-draft content in place, with the 20 percent that needs your judgment left to you.
